FAQ

Common questions.

What is CAS registration and do I need it?

If your business uses software to record transactions or issue invoices, BIR requires you to register that system as a Computerized Accounting System (CAS). Registration involves submitting a documentation packet to your RDO, which BIR evaluates before issuing an Acknowledgement Certificate. The mandate applies to all taxpayers using invoicing software, not just large corporations.

What is EIS transmission?

The Electronic Invoicing System (EIS) requires businesses to transmit invoice data to BIR within 3 calendar days of issuance. Every e-invoice must be signed, encrypted, and sent to BIR's servers via an accredited service provider. BlackZero handles this automatically for every invoice you post — you don't interact with BIR's API directly.

Is BlackZero BIR-accredited?

BlackZero holds Accredited Service Provider (ASP) status, which authorizes us to transmit e-invoices to BIR on your behalf. We do not claim credentials we don't hold — the full breakdown of what BlackZero holds versus what your business holds is on our Compliance page.

What happens after December 31 if I'm not registered?

Non-registration exposes your business to BIR penalties. Once your Permit to Transmit is active, non-transmission carries a ₱10,000 per day penalty. The registration process takes time — BIR evaluates each CAS registration packet, and RDO processing windows vary. Starting the process now reduces deadline risk.

Can I switch from QuickBooks or Xero?

QuickBooks and Xero do not hold ASP accreditation and cannot transmit EIS to BIR on your behalf. BlackZero can replace your current accounting tool or operate alongside it — your accountant can advise on the right transition path. We provide a migration guide and onboarding assistance as part of the SME/Pro plan.
